Thank you for considering volunteering your time with us at the Mechanicstown Fire Department. While we are always seeking those eager to become a part of our organization, it is especially important that potential applicants understand that a firehouse is a time commitment. Our members are regular people, who have jobs, families, school commitments and personal commitments. Still, they find plenty of time to commit to MECFD. Here is a rough idea of the commitment involved:

-One meeting per month, held on a weekday night.

-Four drills per month, held on Monday nights at 7:00PM.

-Out of 800-1000 calls, respond to approximately 200.

-Occasionally participate in unscheduled drills and social functions.
