Posted by [email protected] on April 25, 2013 at 4:40 AM

On Wednesday morning, the Mechanicstown Fire Department was dispatched to Rykowski Ln for an automatic fire alarm sounding.

While responding, units were advised that the caller was reporting a moderate smoke condition in the building.

Car 6 "command" arrived first, and found that the building had been evacuated.

Ladder Company 21 arrived shortly thereafter, and FF Zerilli made entry to investigate.

21 Truck found a smoke condition in the kitchen, secondary to burnt food on the stove, no fire.

Engine Company 22 arrived prepared to hit the hydrant.

Positive pressure ventilation was established, and oxygen dependent residents were permitted to reenter on the opposite wing of the facility.

Alarm reset, units picked up and returned.
